Mustang Trek is also known as the Upper Mustang Trek and the last forbidden kingdom place. It is only one desert land in Nepal which is bordered by Tibet. The upper Mustang trek is famous for its unique culture of Tibet and its lifestyle is highly influenced by Tibet as well as the picturesque, wide landscape, desert-like plateau, deep gorges, unique rock formations, and colors are incredible.

Upper Mustang place was a restricted area for tourists until 1992 now is open for tourists but the trekkers require a special permit to enter the upper Mustang area so must be issued a special permit through a registered trekking company. The permit fee takes for the first 10 days per person is $500 and After 10 days per day per person is $50 this is the rule of the Nepal government.

Upper Mustang is encountered by century-old Buddhist monasteries, guru padma samba cave which reflect the rich Buddhist heritage of the area, and the main religion in Mustang is Tibetan Buddhism. During the upper Mustang trek we were able to see the uniqueness of the treeless landscape, rocky trail, snow-capped mountains views are Dhaulagiri 8163, Nilgiri central 6940m, Nilgiri south 6839m, Annapurna I 8091m, Annapurna south 7219m Mukot Himal 6087m, Nilgiri north 7061, Fishtail 6997m and other peaks

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrive at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. An altitude of 1400m.

Day 2.  Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara An altitude of 8,50m. 7 to 8 hours.

Day 3.  Flight from Pokhara  to Jomson An altitude of 2700m. & Trek to Kagbeni 2 An altitude of 800m.3 to 4 hours.

Day 4. Kagbeni to Chele An altitude of 3,110m. 5 to 6 hours.

Day 5. Chele to shyangbochen  an altitude of 3800m. 5 to 6 hours.

Day 6. Shyangbochen to Charang An altitude of 3570m. 6 to 7 hours.

Day 7. Charang to Lo – Manthang An altitude of 3840m. 5 to 6 hours.

Day 8. Lo Manthang to Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar An altitude of 3810m. & return. 6 to 7 hours.

Day 9. Lo-Manthang to Drakmar An altitude of 3820m. 6 to 7 hours.

Day 10. Drakmar to Shyangmochen An altitude of 3800m. 6  to 7 hours.

Day 11. Shyangmochen to Chhusang An altitude of 2980m. 5 to 6 hours.

Day 12.  Chhusang to Muktinath An altitude of 3800m. 7  to 8 hours.

Day 13.  Muktinath to Jomson  An altitude of 2750m) Via Kagbeni. 5 to 6 hours.

Day 14.  Fly from Jomson to Pokhara  An altitude of 820m.

Day 15. Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu An altitude of 1350m. 6 to 7 hours.

Day 16.  Departure day  back to sweet home
